How to set
How to set up SmoothWizard?
Configure the app for max gaming performance - from Basic to PRO, games, system, and phone.
Since 2023 SmoothWizard has grown a lot. Below: setup order, other app tabs, and a separate phone-to-PC guide. Live demo on the right. Use ↑↓ arrows (on-screen or keyboard) to walk points one by one - highlight in the text and in the demo. Plain page scroll stays section-level.
Start
Basic cockpit
The first screen is quick toggles and Windows tools. You will find:
- Status bubbles - Basic / PRO / mobile server / app autostart (LMB toggles, RMB opens menu)
- Temp cleanup - AppData, Windows, Prefetch (also automatic in Basic)
- Shader cache - NVIDIA / AMD / Intel / DirectX / Vulkan (close games first)
- RAM cleanup - free memory without killing apps (PRO)
- Tray shortcuts - tray icon RMB menu + cockpit pins
- Task Manager and process killer (PID killer)
- DNS change with ping + reset
- System repair (SFC/DISM) and restore points
- Classic right-click - Win10 menu on Win11
Cockpit is convenience, not the main FPS jump. Temp is already cleaned by Basic. Use it however you like.
Must-run
Basic optimization
Run it even if you use PRO.
One switch puts the PC in "game mode", another click restores normal. Basic tunes services and live system/registry settings. Recommended order:
- Disable Xbox services - if you do not need Xbox / Game Pass titles
- Disable RAM compression - enable with 16 GB RAM or more
- Change power plan - SmoothWizard performance plan + separate timeouts
- Enable AutoStart optimization - game mode with app start
- Turn on optimization itself (master switch)
App AutoStart with Windows is separate in Settings - not the same as optimization AutoStart.
Everything is reversible: turning off restores normal. System restore points are available too.
Uncheck Xbox for Minecraft or Xbox Game Pass games. Basic + PRO is the best duo for FPS.
Fullscreen
PRO optimization
PRO runs in real time when a fullscreen game is detected, or one from the skip-fullscreen list. Includes:
- Master + autostart - engages on fullscreen
- Optimization test - quick test via the no-fullscreen list
- Disable UI + mask - less Windows UI while playing
- CPU core control - live affinity
- Entry delay - longer timer on older PCs (0.5-15 s)
- Pause process list - pause during play, resume after exit
- No-fullscreen list / exclusions
- Emergency button - disables all of PRO instantly
LOW-MID
On weaker PCs enable the base options, run optimization, then park unused apps on the pause list. Be careful with core control if you have few threads - often better skipped.
MID-HIGH
On stronger hardware use the same base setup, with or without core control. Even keeping CPU0 away from the game can improve P1 and 1% lows.
Processes to pause
Paused (not killed) processes free RAM. Add what you do not need in-game: browser, updaters, Discord (when not chatting). They resume after exit or minimize.
Less RAM for background
Background apps can partially move to disk instead of holding RAM. When they truly need memory, SmoothWizard gives resources back. The game gets more RAM.
Kernel Timer
Kernel Timer tunes the Windows kernel clock - lower system latency, snappier mouse response, stabler frametimes. A modern safer alternative to classic Timer Resolution / ISLC. You can add per-game skip lists.
That is enough to aim PRO at high FPS. Then tweak for your PC. Questions? Discord.
Per-game
Games optimization
Ready profiles for 70+ titles (catalog grows). Each game has its own path in the app.
- Optimize - ready config in one click
- Backup / Restore - every change with a per-game copy
- Launch with priority and monitor pick
- Launch options to copy + config reset
- Add-ons - LOD Bias (NVIDIA), Minecraft, FiveM, CS2 cfg, SteamVR close, and more
- Voting - suggest a title or upvote requests
Game missing? Basic + PRO still help. The community picks next titles in-app.
Desktop
Apps optimization
Same idea as games, but for desktop apps - API catalog, backups and restore.
- Optimize / Start / Priority - like games
- Backup and restore of app settings
- NVIDIA Control Panel preset - global performance profile with backup
Useful when you want a driver / NVIDIA panel preset without manual digging.
Windows
System optimization
Full, safe Windows 10/11 optimization for the app - max performance without giving up security (unlike many custom OS builds).
- Green Optimize button - recommended pack + restore point
- Basics - telemetry, privacy, UI, Windows Update
- RegEdit - Game Mode, RAM, Fast Startup, Game DVR, power, network limits
- Debloat - unused system apps
Scripts were iterated from community feedback. Inspired by Debloat Win10 (W4RH4WK) - rebuilt from scratch since then. Changes are reversible.
Live
Hardware monitor
Live overview without a built-in FPS counter (the app does not include one - and we do not promise it in copy).
- CPU / GPU / RAM - usage, temps, clocks, uptime
- CPU temperature source pick
- Sensor browser (temp, load, clock, power)
Great to confirm background load dropped after optimization and temps stay sane.
Preferences
Settings and tray
Day-to-day app behavior - do not confuse with Basic optimization AutoStart.
- Language PL / EN
- Windows AutoStart, start minimized, minimize to tray
- Tray menu and cockpit pins - shortcuts under the tray icon RMB
- Account / license - FREE, 7-day PRO trial, refresh license
Tray is your always-on mini cockpit: temp, DNS, game groups, optimization status.
LAN + PIN
Guide: phone - PC
Control optimization from your phone on the same Wi-Fi / LAN.
The mobile app talks to the PC on the local network (4-digit PIN): Basic/PRO, usage view, processes, shutdown / restart / lock. Step by step below.
-
1
Install the phone app
Get SmoothWizard Mobile from the App Store or Google Play (links are also in the PC mobile-server tab).
-
2
Enable the mobile server on PC
In SmoothWizard on Windows open the mobile server tab (or the cockpit bubble) and turn the server on. Optionally enable server autostart with the app.
-
3
Set a PIN
Enable PIN protection and remember the 4 digits. Without a PIN you cannot pair the phone.
-
4
Same network + firewall
Phone and PC must be on the same LAN. If the phone cannot see the PC - use Windows firewall repair in this tab (SmoothWizard must be allowed to discover LAN devices).
-
5
Connect from the phone
Open the mobile app, pick your PC from discovered devices and enter the PIN. After pairing you can toggle optimizations and watch usage.
-
6
What you can do from the phone
Basic / PRO, CPU/GPU/RAM view, process list + kill, shutdown / restart / lock. Full PRO control needs a PRO license on the PC.
This is not public-internet remote control - LAN only. Discovery issues? Check Wi-Fi (not guest), PIN, and firewall.
